In October, Almirall announced the launching of the second Harvest fort startups focused on medical dermatology. Start-ups from around the world presented their proposals through almiralldigitalgarden.com. After reviewing the applications, Almirall selected 8 finalist start-ups, who were invited to present their business models in a virtual event co-sponsored by Almirall and HealthXL. The 6 selected winning teams, will begin a nine-month acceleration program in January at the Barcelona Health Hub.
Participants in the program, will be trained by professionals from Almirall and its global network of partners, including HealthXL and other experts. The program will also provide financial support. Start-ups will have the opportunity to collaborate with Barcelona’s reference hospitals as a digital pilot testing location, collaborate in Almirall’s real projects and access to the company’s communication and PR networks to promote their projects, among other incentives.
“We continue to strengthen our commitment to digital innovation through the launch of the second Digital Garden call. We are excited to begin collaborating with the six selected start-ups to address the current and future challenges in medical dermatology that patients face. We are convinced that this collaboration will be mutually beneficial and will allow us to develop solutions for medical dermatology and improve the lives of our patients,” explained Francesca Wuttke, Chief Digital Officer at Almirall.
The six selected start-ups share with Almirall their purpose, “Transform the patients’ world by helping them realize their hopes and dreams for a healthy life”. They focus their work on developing solutions that can help improve pharmaceutical processes and business models.
